Sustainability
Energy and Sustainability
Energy consumption is directly proportional to the level of development and growth of countries. Energy, present in all areas of our daily life, is one of the fundamental building blocks of modern life.
With industrialization, population growth, and rising living standards, Turkey's energy needs continue to grow day by day. Turkey’s per capita energy consumption is one-fifth of the OECD countries' average. According to the International Energy Agency, energy intensity in developed countries ranges from 0.09 to 0.19, while this rate in Turkey is at 0.38. This high ratio indicates that significant steps need to be taken to improve energy efficiency in our country.
Renewable Energy Investment
Energy consumption based on fossil fuels increases foreign dependency, raises import costs, and creates sustainability issues due to environmental impacts. In contrast, renewable energy sources stand out for their sustainability and environmentally friendly qualities, creating much less environmental impact compared to fossil fuels.
At Global Mining, we are acting with this vision and investing in sustainable energy solutions to protect the future. In this context, within our mining license area in the Tefenni district of Burdur, we have installed a 2.6 MWe Solar Power Plant (SPP) on a tailing storage site, which not only meets our energy needs but also provides environmental rehabilitation.
Global Solar Power Plant
The installed SPP best represents the definition of Green Energy due to renewable energy usage, recovery of tailing waste areas, and the ability of the facility to produce its own electricity. This investment is a tangible indicator of both our environmental sensitivity and our understanding of sustainable mining.
